About the Opportunity

We are offering hands-on internship and apprenticeship positions for motivated individuals ready to build foundational skills in land surveying, geomatics, and infrastructure development. This opportunity is open to enrolled high school students in technical or vocational surveying tracks, college students pursuing degrees in surveying and geomatics, and career seekers ready to enter an apprenticeship trade pathway.

We have positions available across all Patriot Surveying & Infrastructure office locations, with flexible scheduling options to accommodate ongoing academic commitments while delivering meaningful, real-world project experience alongside our field crews and technical staff.

Core Responsibilities

• Assist field crews with packing, setting up, and operating modern survey equipment, including GPS/GNSS units, robotic total stations, data collectors, and 3D laser scanners.
• Support active field projects involving boundary retracement, topographic surveys, ALTA/NSPS land title surveys, construction layout, and utility infrastructure mapping.
• Maintain and organize survey vehicles, tripods, rods, prisms, and job-site safety equipment.
• Learn industry-standard field documentation, sketch generation, and electronic data logging practices.
• Coordinate with office staff on basic data downloads, quality assurance checks, and foundational drafting workflows in CAD platforms.
• Adhere strictly to company safety protocols, client job-site guidelines, and PPE standards at all times.

Position Details & Work Environment

• Full-Time, Part-Time, or Summer Seasonal, structured to accommodate high school and college class schedules.
• Open across all company branch offices, serving regional project sites. (Arundel, ME | Bangor, ME | Mooresville, NC | Summerville, SC | Traverse City, MI | Wilmington, NC)
• Compensation: Competitive hourly rate, with travel accommodations and per diem provided whenever overnight project assignments are scheduled.
• Working Conditions: Regular outdoor physical activity across varying terrains and weather conditions, with occasional office-based drafting exposure.

Qualifications

• Current enrollment in a high school surveying or vocational program, active enrollment in a college surveying/geomatics curriculum, or a high school diploma/GED seeking a formal apprenticeship.
• Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record preferred.
• Strong aptitude for basic math, geometry, or spatial problem-solving.
• Reliable attendance, self-motivation, and a proactive willingness to learn field instrumentation and surveying software.
• Ability to pass standard pre-employment drug screening and background verification.
